Legacy (2023) dir. Jordan Fuller

Legacy (2023) follows a struggling college student whose complacency in class leads to a life-changing punishment. After embarrassing his professor during a donor event, he is forced into a secret campus program that claims to “preserve the legacy” of Black leaders. What begins as a lecture on purpose and discipline turns into something far darker, revealing the pressure placed on young Black students to perform, conform, and sacrifice themselves for institutions that demand everything. The film explores expectation, identity, and the cost of carrying someone else’s legacy.

Role: Director of Photography

Behind the Lens

Legacy was the first project where I served as Director of Photography for another filmmaker. I worked closely with director Jordan Fuller to design the visual tone of the film and support its themes through composition, lighting, and camera movement. My role included planning shot lists, guiding the camera team, and making on-set decisions that shaped the mood of each scene. This project helped me learn how to translate a director’s ideas into a clear visual language and sharpened my approach to cinematography.
