Interstellar: a Noire Concert Film

Noire is the contemporary popular music ensemble of Spelman College. I first joined the ensemble as the equipment manager and audio engineer. When I became a music major, I had to complete a senior project within my major requirements. This gave me the chance to bring together my love of film and my training in music technology.

For Fall 2025, I produced and directed the full Noire Concert Film as my senior project. I created the visuals for the show and treated the concert like a film production. I designed the set, planned the lighting, and built a visual style that matched the sound of the ensemble. I directed the multi camera team, ran the live stream, and shaped the look of every scene on stage.

I also handled the complete audio workflow. I organized and captured the multitrack recording and began mixing the performance into a live concert album. Editing the film has allowed me to merge my skills in camera work, storytelling, and sound.

Behind the Edit

My goal was to capture the beauty of Noire. I wanted the visuals to reflect the music and the edit to carry the same energy as the live performance. This film represents my voice as a director and audio engineer.

Senior Jury

As part of the music program, students are required to complete a jury check in during the fall semester. For my jury, I submitted a preliminary edit and mix of the first song of the concert. This edit was completed in the two weeks between the concert and jury exams.
